Course overview Practical, intensive, realistic and active.
The emphasis is on news and current affairs reporting and feature writing. Participants will look at the problems facing journalists through discussion with British experts and fellow professionals from other countries.
Professionals with vast experience of news, current affairs and feature writing drive the course.
Fundamental skills such as writing, interviewing, design and layout are central to the syllabus.
The course includes modules on key issues of the day such as the environment, business and health. Participants will also attend a one-day course on survival in a hostile environment run by ex-British army soldiers and medics. Participants also produce a news website which includes making video bulletins for streaming.
The course is based in Cardiff, capital of Wales, but expect to travel too. Participants will spend one week at a leading British regional newspaper for observation and work experience.
Details of the 2009 Summer Courses will be posted on this website soon, together with online application forms and details of how to apply.
